Queens Vogue

Highly anticipated by both Queen’s University students and the Kingston community, Vogue Charity Fashion Show is an annual performing arts show produced and executed entirely by students at Queen’s University. 25 years in the making, VCFS is one of the largest student run fashion shows in all of Canada and has become the largest student run club on campus. Comprised of over 100 talented and passionate dancers, models, choreographers, student designers, musicians, artists, and a dedicated executive committee, VCFS unites the student body to give back to our community through charity and creativity. Along with donating over $600,000 to over a dozen charities since its inception, VCFS has developed a tight-knit community of club members, alumni, and supporters, all of whom are instrumental in helping us achieve our fundraising goals. Artem Terrae This year’s theme celebrates the innate beauty of the world around us with an emphasis on the importance of protecting and sustaining that which sustains us. As human beings, we draw our life, power, and inspiration from the natural world. All things begin in the same way, rising from and eventually returning to the Earth. This year’s theme celebrates the innate beauty of the world around us with an emphasis on the importance of protecting and sustaining that which sustains us. The Earth offers creativity in its most raw and pure form through its landscapes. In turn, we as human beings move through each stage of our lives learning and building off of the environments around us, growing and changing with each passing day. Artem Terrae, the art of the Earth, brings Vogue back to the very roots of all art through its focus on the greatest masterpieces of all and how the artist in each of us utilizes this life force. TITIKA as an honored contributor TITIKA appreciates and supports the empowering creativity and charity effort VCFS has been dedicated to. This year we are honored to sponsor the charity show with our craft clothing. TITIKA Design Competition 2021|Crossing Cultural Differences with Hope and Art

TITIKA Design Competition 2021|Crossing Cultural Differences with Hope and Art   The Titika Design Challenge is a competition between fashion designers from Canada and China. When we initiated the competition a year ago, we faced several major challenges: a world in during pandemic and near economic collapse; and two countries with different languages and cultures.   However, there were also a few things that motivated us to start it. They’ve made the competition extra meaningful: a theme of "hope" that conveys universal optimism; and, most importantly, artistic creativity and design excellence that transcends cultural differences. With the joint planning of multiple fashion colleges and institutions across Canada and China, we received several submissions from leading design schools in both countries for six months. Among them, there were 12 excellent finalists.   Five winners were selected by a panel of professional judges from the Canadian fashion industry. Winner of the Best Creativity Award: Sheetal Mahar from Fanshawe College, Canada Winner of the Best Technology Award: Meng Li from George Brown College, Canada        Two runners up Zerui Yang from Minzu University of China and Ramak Dargahi from George Brown College, Canada    And finally, the grand prize winner of the Titika Challenge: Sheila Zeferino "Hope is Power" from Seneca College, Canada.  In addition to congratulating the winners, we would like to express our gratitude to the professional judges for their great contributions to the competition.  Thanks to Elise Gasbarrino, Editor In Chief of Style Canada. Berta Pavlov, Professor of Fashion Patternmaking at George Brown College, one of Canada's leading design schools.  Iconic Canadian designer Franco Mirabelli And Dr. Constantine Campaniaris, Fashion Communication Professor at George Brown College, Titika's brand consultant and mastermind of this design challenge.  Many thanks to the senior judges for their contributions to the event. This concludes the TITIKA Design Challenge. Congratulations again to the finalists and winners and we wish you success in your future careers.

How TITIKA’s Eileen Zhang Has Turned Activewear Into Couture

by Anastasia BarbuzziAnastasia Barbuzzi is the Digital Editor at Style Canada. If you wandered the heart of Toronto’s fashion district on Queen St. West before 2020 happened, then you probably came across TITIKA‘s storefront, which opened in 2012 after its Barrie, Oakville and London brick and mortar locations achieved critical acclaim. That was four years after Eileen Zhang graduated from studying fashion at George Brown College, and at the time, “fashion-forward activewear” was still somewhat of a new concept. Even so, there was something more important to her than breaking into the activewear market at a fast fashion pace, and that was the making of well-constructed, ultra-feminine, runway-ready clothes.Impressively, TITIKA Active Couture is making just as many heads turn online, where the company’s retail presence is now focused. This strategic move by the company has necessitated a closer relationship with the company’s community both in North America and in South East Asia where TITIKA has experienced unprecedented growth since it launched in 2018.Today, TITIKA‘s development as a brand comes as a result of Eileen’s ambitious activewear offerings that are soft yet powerful, stylish yet edgy, functional yet fashionable. In fact, research has proven that the TITIKA customer does not have to sacrifice style for comfort. 2021 marks TITIKA‘s eleventh year in business, as well as Eileen’s eleventh year at the helm as Chief Creative Officer. All along, TITIKA has been a shining example of what a fusion between athleisure fabrics and couture tailoring can create: daily essentials that perform when in motion and fit the body like clingy ready-to-wear items.According to Eileen, leading an increasingly busy life can be complicated and that’s why picking what to wear shouldn’t be. Smart, stylish and functional, TITIKA offers versatility, allowing you to move freely and appear stylishly between the office, the yoga studio and the chicest of rooftop bistros.TITIKA clothing is made out of luxurious, technologically advanced fabrics like Supplex, which provides four-way stretch and Modal, a buttery soft blend incorporated into TITIKA tops. Today, Eileen is just as committed to the quality of TITIKA‘s materials, perfecting her operation and executing her designs. If truth be told, anyone who knows Eileen understands that her working hours go well beyond nine to five to bolster the momentum of TITIKA‘s business, her main supports being “coffee, walking the dog and, if available, sunshine”. Eileen’s footpath into fashion began with her move to Canada from China in 2006 as a young wife and mother. She quickly had to adapt to a new culture and language, whilst, at the same time, trying to make a life for her family and realize her dream of becoming a designer.Once TITIKA took off in North America, Eileen’s design career blossomed. In 2015, she was highlighted as a change maker in the fashion industry by the BBC, and in 2016, she designed sportswear for Madonna’s Hard Candy gym in Toronto.Soon after, she participated in roundtable talks with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2017, all while continuing her relationship with her alma mater through fashion shows and donations.2021 will also commemorate the fourth annual TITIKA 100 Fit Women campaign, which empowers influential women around the world to promote a positive and healthy lifestyle to their online communities. In addition, Eileen will be undertaking two important personal projects throughout the remainder of 2021: an international design competition among fashion schools in Canada and China, as well as a dream she’s hoped to realize for years: Eileen’s Bottega. The Bottega will be a studio dedicated to the nurturing of design through mentoring, consulting and collaborations with other like-minded artists. Maybe the most intriguing aspect of it is the space that young students are about to fill with ideas, shared thoughts and experiences; a place where they will create and receive feedback from Eileen, who began her quest to design stardom in a very similar environment. We can’t wait to watch Eileen’s mentees emerge from the Bottega with newfound sophistication as designers and tools to help embolden them in the future. From there, there will be no limit to their success. ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED by STYLE CANADA | May 15, 2021

Tachi x No Labels

TITIKA has partnered with Tachi and eight of our TITIKA brand ambassadors to welcome our newest member of TITIKA and our first-ever male ambassador. The event was held at TACHI, Canadas first stand-up Sushi restaurant! Tachi is part of the same restaurant group as Sushi Masaki Saito and Shoushin, which specialize in Japanese omakase. Omakase is a form of Japanese dining in which guests leave themselves in the hands of a chef to create and receive a meal that is seasonal and uses only the finest ingredients available.  While taking all COVID-19 precautions we were able to join together over a traditional Japanese dining experience in the heart of Toronto, to give thanks to our community, our partners and our new journey within TITIKA. We welcomed Netflix Actor, Chase Tang for partnering with us to be the newest host of our IGTV series “No Labels.” No Labels is our soon to be launched IGTV video series which will be taking place completely remotely via video chat. No Labels was created to empower women; to remove judgement, prejudice, and bring awareness to the raw and unedited side of what we see on social media. We will be hosting women from all over to tell us their successes, their failures, and their everyday struggles to bring awareness to those going through similar situations with zero judgement, normalization of hardships and No Labels. This year COVID-19 has changed our world in unprecedented ways. We hope you are keeping safe and healthy during these uncertain and challenging times. As promised, we would like to provide you with some updates on TITIKA. There has been an increase in demand for personal protective equipment in Canada and so TITIKA is committed to helping the COVID-19 relief effort in any way we can. As our headquarters is located in Markham, we have donated 250 medical masks to Markham Stouffville Hospital and $1,100 CAD to the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation. In addition to posing public health challenges, the outbreak has prompted mass closures of schools and businesses and is straining resources. The Government of Canada is taking strong and quick action to protect our economy, and the health, safety, and jobs of all Canadians during the global COVID-19 outbreak. As communities around the world struggle to cope with COVID-19, front-line workers are facing dire circumstances, unable to practice social distancing and making sure the rest of us are getting our essential needs. Some of the biggest names in the world of business have donated to fund research, pay for personal protective equipment for hospitals, and help victims suffering during the COVID-19 crisis. The CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public, particularly in areas with high levels of community-based transmission. However, they stress that surgical masks and N-95 respirators should be reserved for medical staff. Locals are banding together to collect masks and other protective equipment as an impending shortage looms.
